This week we were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Galway, Cllr. Mike Cubbard to our school. He was met on arrival by the student council and then took part in a question and answer session with the pupils of 6th Class. We asked questions about the role of the Mayor, the work of the City Council and the ongoing issues in Galway City. He provided information on some of the plans for Galway 2020 and also revealed what he is dressing up as for Hallowe'en....Michael D. Higgins. Finally he proposed a motion that the pupils in 6th Class should not have homework that night. The motion was passed by a majority of 43 to 2. There was great excitement at this news! Many thanks to Cllr. Mike Cubbard for taking the time to visit.
