We have been very busy with Science week here in Room 10!
We carried out a variety of experiments in class - from proving that the density of water is in between those of oil and honey, to proving that both oxygen & water are necessary for Iron Oxide (rusting) to occur. We concluded the week with our own Science Fair. We witnessed some amazing experiments! From making "Lava Lamps", to showing how the chemical reaction of bi-carbonate of soda can cause a balloon to inflate, from looking at the real sugar content of "healthy" foods to making bottles of Coca Cola explode... we had a huge variety of exciting experiments!! We were even fortunate enough to watch a 3D printer in action - using computer software and a special type of plastic called 'PLA' - we watched a 3D Christmas tree come to life! Take a look at a few of the highlights from the day! I'm sure you'll agree that the future of Science and Engineering here in Galway is in very safe hands!
