We were thrilled and delighted to welcome our local hurling hero John Hanbury, the "Liam McCarthy Cup" and the "Irish Press Cup" to our school last Wednesday 4th October. There was huge excitement and a great show of Maroon & White as we all gathered in the hall. Following a brief introduction by resident Hurling coordinator and MC Paul Kilgannon and local club Chairman John Keane, hurling star John Hanberry addressed the fans. John was then presented with a drawing created by Ben Michon, Sam Pitman and Ciarán Lynch and two poems written for the occasion by Cian Horan and Mark Dempsey. John was also gracious enough to answer questions posed by Cian Cloherty, Lauren Carr and Darragh Keane. We would like to thank Rahoon-Newcastle Club for helping to organise this visit - it's something that we will all remember for many years to come!
