Will from the SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) came into our class today to do this very interesting workshop. We all agreed that we need electricity in our everyday lives but after hearing about fossil fuels and how they damage the environment, we feel we have to make some changes to our energy consumption. We have come up with some simple measures to take in the classroom and in our homes. Our suggestions e.g. turning lights off when we leave the room, not leaving appliances on standby, only putting enough water in the kettle for the number of cups of tea we're making, earned us lots of points in the 'Guzzler's Energy Challenge' game. We also looked at renewable sources of energy and investigated how potatoes can generate energy. We learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed this workshop.
