Ms.Lane’s 6th class completed projects about the ancient, new and natural wonders of the world. Have a look at the great projects we did! We learned a lot from these projects and enjoyed doing them. Over the last two weeks we have created projects on tourist attractions all around Ireland. There are so many wonderful places to visit in our country. We learned many interesting facts about all the places we researched and we hope to visit some of these great places over the summer with our families. We have been learning all about China. We made some amazing projects on China, The Chinese New Year, Pandas, Tea, Chinese Dragons, Fortune Cookies, Chinese Paper Making, The Sable, Chinese Inventions and The Great Wall of China. We recently completed projects on tourist attractions around Ireland. We did projects on places such as The Titanic Museum in Belfast, to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin and down to Fota Wildlife Park in Cork. Great work was done by all, well done! We have done some amazing projects on China this week. We have learned facts about the country, its cities, its buildings, The Great Wall of China, pandas, tea, Chinese inventions and the Chinese New Year. Everyone worked really hard at making their projects and we are all very proud of our work. We researched and made projects about the counties and tourist attractions around Ireland. We learned a lot about our country and how much it has to offer. Today we went out into the sunshine to sow seeds. We each got our own pot and sowed baby carrots, runner beans and cress. We watered them and have them left in the sunlight to help them grow. We are looking forward to taking care of our pots and watching our seeds grow. Today we had to say goodbye to our Aquarium! Joanne came to First Class to collect it from us. Joanne also brought lots of really interesting things for us to see. She brought Shark's Teeth, Whale's Teeth, Shark's Skin, Lobster Claws, Dolphin Skull, a Whale's Neck Bone, a Star Fish Shell, a Mermaid's Purse and lots of other exciting things. We are very sad to see the aquarium go but we really enjoyed having here in First Class - we learned so much from it and we all did wonderful projects on it. We have been learning all about autumn in our class. We went on a nature walk around our school to see some signs of autumn. We found some autumn leaves and saw the leaves falling off trees. We made some autumn leaves, apple prints and autumn trees and this week we will learn about the hedgehog. Have a look at our work and our walk: Mr. Finlay's 6th class have been doing some work about world poverty. We learned about some of the causes of poverty such as war, drought, natural disasters, etc. It is not only poor countries that suffer from poverty - some of the richest countries in the world still have a lot of it. We also looked at ways we can help and one way is to buy Fairtrade produce in the supermarket. You can get fruit, coffee, tea and even chocolate that is Fairtrade. We did projects on some of the countries that are suffering from poverty. You can download our projects here. ![]()
