We made delicious soup in school today. With the help of some parents we picked vegetables from the garden that we had sown last year. We added them to the vegetables we brought in from home to make our soup. We really enjoyed making it and it was really tasty.

We are very lucky to have gotten the chance to make soup in class this morning. We brought in some vegetables and equipment from home. We went outside and picked the vegetables we grew in the school garden last year. We then washed and peeled all the vegetables and got help to chop them up. Three lovely parents came in to help us make the soup. It was really delicious!! We even had brown bread and croutons, yum! Yesterday we made vegetable soup. We went outside to our garden plot to pick the vegetables we had sown last year. We picked carrots, potatoes, peas and herbs and we brought in extra vegetables from home. After washing the vegetables we peeled and chopped them. We had the help from some lovely parents who cooked the soup for us. We would like to thank them for helping us. The soup was very delicious and we really enjoyed making it. This morning, Nora's Mum very kindly brought us outside to our garden plot to sow some vegetables such as onions, carrots, pumpkins, peas, radishes and strawberries. We also sowed some sunflowers. We are looking forward to watching them grow! We want to say a big thanks to Nora's Mum for her help. Yesterday we got the chance to become chefs and make soup from scratch. We went out into the school garden to pick some fresh vegetables and we also brought some in from home. To make our soup we used potatoes, carrots, parsnips, leeks, celery and onions. We washed all the vegetables, peeled them and cut them and placed them all into one big pot. The vegetables were then boiled and when soft, blended together. We added a stock cube, cream, salt, pepper and curry powder at the end. Kate's dad also sent in some delicious brown bread for us to have with our soup. We really enjoyed making the soup and it was so delicious. We would like to say a big thank you to Kathleen, Gail and Dolores for all their help! Today we were helping out in the school garden to make our plot look nice for Easter. We removed all the weeds and picked some strawberry plants. Our plot is looking really good now. We'd like to say thanks to the parents who helped out! Today we went out into the sunshine to sow seeds. We each got our own pot and sowed baby carrots, runner beans and cress. We watered them and have them left in the sunlight to help them grow. We are looking forward to taking care of our pots and watching our seeds grow. We visited the school garden on Friday. Everyone planted a potato and did some weeding. Have a look at us busy at work: We thoroughly enjoyed our preparations this term for Mother's Day. As you can see we were busy planting, re-potting, painting and writing.Mr Kilgannon's Senior Infants have been very busy sowing and growing plants in their classroom as part of the "Innocent and G.I.Y. Sow and Grow Project". The project is all about teaching children about the fun of gardening and growing their own produce. Click on the picture below for a link to the Sow & Grow website where you can read of our Senior Infants - who were selected as Growers of the Week!!
Mr Finlay's and Ms. Walsh's sixth class were in the garden. We weeded the garden and sowed seeds. We dug up plants. We also planted conkers and ate onions. |
