We have been learning about volcanoes and hibernation in 2nd class. We researched at home and presented our work to the class. Have a look at our AMAZING projects!
We have been trying out many Science experiments recently including : The balloon that can't be inflated, The floating ball, Dancing raisins, Launching a balloon rocket and Erupting volcanoes. Some of us even brought in our own experiments to try out. Have a look at our pictures and videos below.
This week we have been learning about patterns and doing lots of different activities. We even made patterns using ourselves. Can you guess what they are?
Yesterday we made Halloween shortbread biscuits. We mixed butter, sugar and flour together to make the biscuits. We used Halloween shaped cutters to cut out our biscuits. They were delicious!!
We did lots of lovely activities for Maths Week. Have a look at some of the things we did.
On Friday we did a soil investigation. We found worms, stones, roots, moss, twigs and leaves in the soil. We used magnifying glasses to get a closer look. We released the worms into the soil outside afterwards.
Here's some recent artwork that we have done. We created a flower using our hands to show that, like petals, 'we are each unique and beautiful, but together we are a masterpiece.' We also made autumn trees. We used cotton buds to create our leaves. We dabbed them into orange, red and yellow paint and onto our page.
We made delicious soup in school today. With the help of some parents we picked vegetables from the garden that we had sown last year. We added them to the vegetables we brought in from home to make our soup. We really enjoyed making it and it was really tasty.
We are very lucky to have gotten the chance to make soup in class this morning. We brought in some vegetables and equipment from home. We went outside and picked the vegetables we grew in the school garden last year. We then washed and peeled all the vegetables and got help to chop them up. Three lovely parents came in to help us make the soup. It was really delicious!! We even had brown bread and croutons, yum!
We made scones in class this morning. They were delicious! Here is the recipe we used from the Odlums website:
We recently completed projects on tourist attractions around Ireland. We did projects on places such as The Titanic Museum in Belfast, to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin and down to Fota Wildlife Park in Cork. Great work was done by all, well done!
Bhí ceolchoirm sa scoil inniu le haghaidh Seachtain na Gaeilge. Bhíomar ag canadh, ag damsha agus ag rá dánta as gaeilge. Bhain gach duine an taitneamh as.
We carried out floating and sinking experiments using plasticine, a bowl of water, a banana, an orange, paper clips, unifix cubes and buttons. We tested out the items at different stages, made predictions as to whether the items would float or sink and recorded our results.
We have done some amazing projects on China this week. We have learned facts about the country, its cities, its buildings, The Great Wall of China, pandas, tea, Chinese inventions and the Chinese New Year. Everyone worked really hard at making their projects and we are all very proud of our work.
We had great fun doing experiments this week for Science Week. We did experiments such as 'where is your blind spot?', dancing raisins, balloon experiments such as launching a balloon rocket and the inflatable balloon where we made predictions about what would happen. We also had a lava lamp and saw how heat changed the wax and we floated a ping pong ball using a hairdryer. Some of us even tried them at home. Check out our pictures and videos below!
