We recently completed projects on tourist attractions around Ireland. We did projects on places such as The Titanic Museum in Belfast, to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin and down to Fota Wildlife Park in Cork. Great work was done by all, well done!
Bhí ceolchoirm sa scoil inniu le haghaidh Seachtain na Gaeilge. Bhíomar ag canadh, ag damsha agus ag rá dánta as gaeilge. Bhain gach duine an taitneamh as.
We carried out floating and sinking experiments using plasticine, a bowl of water, a banana, an orange, paper clips, unifix cubes and buttons. We tested out the items at different stages, made predictions as to whether the items would float or sink and recorded our results.
We have done some amazing projects on China this week. We have learned facts about the country, its cities, its buildings, The Great Wall of China, pandas, tea, Chinese inventions and the Chinese New Year. Everyone worked really hard at making their projects and we are all very proud of our work.
We had great fun doing experiments this week for Science Week. We did experiments such as 'where is your blind spot?', dancing raisins, balloon experiments such as launching a balloon rocket and the inflatable balloon where we made predictions about what would happen. We also had a lava lamp and saw how heat changed the wax and we floated a ping pong ball using a hairdryer. Some of us even tried them at home. Check out our pictures and videos below!
We started learning tin whistle in September for the first time. Here we are playing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. I'm sure you'll agree we have learned fast and play really well.
We made some fantastic projects on volcanoes and hibernation. We have learned so much from all the different projects. A lot of hard work was put into making them. Have a look at our work!
Today we made some Halloween shortbread biscuits. We used butter, sugar and flour to make them and used Halloween shaped cutters to create bats, owls and cats from the mixture. We wrote the recipe in our copies and might try to bake them at home. They were delicious!!!!
We did some lovely activities this week for Maths Week. Here are some pictures of what we did. They were fun ways of learning Maths.
Thanks and well done to MacDara and Shay for their amazing volcano projects. They added vinegar, bread soda, washing-up liquid and red food colouring to make their volcanoes erupt. It was great fun watching them. Great work boys!!
Yesterday we did an investigation on a sample of soil to see what we would find. During our search we found bugs, moss, twigs, leaves and stones as well as other things. We then filled half a glass jar with soil and the other half with water and left it to settle for an hour. We recorded what had sank and what had floated to the top.
Today for Science we explored our school grounds to find different materials such as stones, leaves, soil, twigs, grass and flowers. We checked their properties to see if they were hard, soft, rough, crumbly, bendy, shiny or round and filled in a chart to show our findings.
Yesterday we made vegetable soup. We went outside to our garden plot to pick the vegetables we had sown last year. We picked carrots, potatoes, peas and herbs and we brought in extra vegetables from home. After washing the vegetables we peeled and chopped them. We had the help from some lovely parents who cooked the soup for us. We would like to thank them for helping us. The soup was very delicious and we really enjoyed making it.
This week for art we discussed Autumn and how the leaves change colour. We used bundled up cotton buds to create our colourful leaves. We think they turned out great!
This year, our First Holy Communion class generously donated €460 from their Communion money to Our Ladies Children's Hospital in Crumlin and today they presented the cheque to Sinead from the Charity.
We went to the Kingfisher on Wednesday to the 'Let's Go!' camp for our school tour. We participated in activities such as air mountain, wobbly ladder, inflatable slide, disco bouncing castle, rock climbing, human foosball, zorbing and roller racers. It was a really enjoyable fun-filled day and we all had a great time.
We made the most of the sunshine yesterday and used it to help us with our art. We brought in toy animals and traced their shadow from the sun and then finished a background.
Last week we became fashion designers and created some cool outfits.
We researched and made projects about the counties and tourist attractions around Ireland. We learned a lot about our country and how much it has to offer.
Welcome to our school blog.
