Today we were delighted to have our Multicultural Day back after two years. It is a day where we celebrate all the different countries of the children in our school and their wonderful cultures and traditions. The children created amazing projects, wore traditional clothes and brought in some delicious food. A huge thank you to all the families who came in to help out. We all had a very enjoyable day!

Well done everyone! We are settling into our new school and making lots of new friends . We have been learning all about the shoe shop and playing in the role play area, with the small world toys, at the creative station and with the construction toys. We had a fantastic day out at Turoe Pet farm. We saw lots of lovely animals, played in an indoor and outdoor playground and we bounced on the biggest bouncy castle you've ever seen!! Here's some pictures from our happy time. We were delighted to receive the 'Golden Boot' in Room 2 today. Walking to school is great for us and our environment. Join the walking bus every Wednesday if you can.
Rooms 1 & 2 came together yesterday for some festive fun and to decorate Reindeer Buns. Delicious!
We've been so busy in Room 2 learning about owls and other nocturnal animals. We read the story of 'Owl Babies' and made our own puppets . We had fun getting ready for Halloween and made some lovely witches. Look at our amazing costumes! We're looking forward to a big rest. See you in November! The girls and boys in Room 2 have had a fantastic start to their school year. They have been having lots of fun playing with their new friends and exploring all the toys and games in their classroom. Look at how much we've grown! We've had a great first year in school and our fantastic Reading Buddies set up an outdoor challenge for us on Tuesday, June 20th. We had lots of fun looking and recording. We had a great day out today, Wednesday the 14th of June. We got the bus to Turoe pet farm where we got to play indoors, feed the animals, play outdoors and go on the biggest bouncy slide you've ever seen! We met lots of fantastic animals along our nature walk. Have a look at all our happy faces! It is the season of summer and watching the beautiful butterflies fluttering by inspired us to learn more about them. We read about their life cycle and we read'The Very Hungry Caterpillar,' by Eric Carle. We found a ladybird in the yard one day so we looked at their life cycle in our Small World book and read 'The Very Lazy Ladybird.' Look at our beautiful butterflies! During our Health and Wellness week this year, we all enjoyed a day full of fun and sun! We really liked moving around the different stations to try out new activities.
We were learning about capacity in maths. We discussed and measured which containers hold more and which hold less liquid. We also discussed the words full and empty. We had to arrange the containers in order of which we thought holds the most down to which holds the least. We had great fun pouring water and measuring during maths.
Today we held our annual show for Seachtain na Gaeilge. Here are some pictures and videos of the children from junior infants, senior infants, 1st class, 2nd class and our school band performing songs, dramas, poems and dances. Some parents also came along to watch the performances. We all really enjoyed the show and we had fun learning lots of Irish along the way. Lá Fhéile Pádraig Shona Daoibh! Last Friday (3rd March) our Senior Infant Classes had a visit from Canine Buddies. The children learned all about how to behave around dogs and how best to care for them. Canine Buddies will be back to visit some of our other classes over the coming weeks.
