We have been very busy in 6th class this month and are really looking forward to Christmas! We have done some lovely art projects such as snow globes and Christmas characters. SnowglobesChristmas CharactersWell done to all the boys and girls in 6th Class who have participated in debates over the past few weeks. A range of motions ranging from 'Cats are better pets than dogs' to 'The President of the USA is doing a good job' have been debated, with interesting points raised in all debates. Debates were of a very high standard and well done to all the boys and girls for the hard work put in preparing and delivering their speeches. We enjoyed engaging in a variety of activities to explore 2D Shapes. Stations included working with tangrams, drawing tessellations, completing symmetrical Christmas pictures, making various shapes using geostrips and exploring hexominos. We have been creating beautiful Christmas and Winter themed art in our classroom. We also wrote some questions we'd like to ask Santa Claus! Take a look at our recent work... The children in 6th Class have completed many art pieces this term. These have included artwork using clay, construction, fabric and fibre and paint. Take a look at the pictures of some of our creations below to see what a talented bunch we are!! 3rd class went on a trip to the Aquarium in Salthill this week. We were split into two groups and went on a tour of the aquarium. We saw lots of different sea creatures such spider crabs, sea stars, eels, trout, seabass, pike, flatfish, sharks and an octopus. We got to hold a sea star, squid and a crab. We were allowed put our hands in the water and let the mullet fish kiss our hands!! Afterwards we dissected a squid. We saw the sack of ink and pen that are inside the squid. It was incredible interesting and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip! Cell Explorers in 5th Class - Room 13! We recently had the pleasure of having the 'Cell Explorers' in our classroom!
They taught us all about DNA -What it is, what the letters stand for and its make up. We then had the chance to take part in an exciting experiment whereby we extracted DNA from bananas. Have a look at some of the photos from the day. How cool do we look in our lab coats?! |
