Our 6th Classes performed a wonderful Carol Service for the whole school this morning. It really put everyone in the mood for the Christmas holidays! Well done to both classes and the teachers for all the hard work in preparing for it - it really was a great show! Well done also to all the other classes who worked hard and put on fantastic shows over the last couple of weeks! We thoroughly enjoyed creating our drama. We had great fun also producing our Christmas art. We have been lucky enough to have an aquarium in our classroom this past month. Nóirín from Atlantaquaria will come to take the aquarium and all its inhabitants back tomorrow. We have really enjoyed having the aquarium in our classroom and have taken the responsibility very seriously. We have also gained alot of scientific knowledge in the process, not only about marine life, but also in the area of problem solving as we attempted to keep the temperature at optimum level. We wrote reports about our favourite aquarium inhabitant and displayed these as we invited other classes to view our aquarium on Friday. Thank you to Nóirín and all at Atlantaquaria for what has proved to be a great experience. This week we learned all about food and especially why we need healthy lunches to to fuel all our learning and playing. Today we decided to make our own healthy lunch. For break we made fruit kebabs and strawberry smmothies and for lunch we had yummy pitta pockets!! Well done to the boys and girls from both 6th Classes who took part in inter-class debates today. There were very lively debates on a range of motions including Technology is killing thinking, Co-educational schools are best and Every child should have a mobile phone. The standard of debate was very high and we are looking forward to more opportunities to work on our debating skills after Christmas. We have been having gymnastic classes with Dale. Yesterday we learned how to do a headstand. Some of us did very well! |
