We had a fabulous time rehearsing and performing our Christmas play 'The Goblin Next Door'. We shared costumes and props with each other. Thank you parents for your help. Take a look in the sections below at some of the work behind the scenes. See the entire cast, then the groups - 'Fantastic Fairies', 'Perfect Pixies' 'Clever Creatures' and good gracious 'Goblins'! Eventually faces were painted, and it was the moment we had been waiting for - lights, camera, action! Did you notice all kinds of trees in Bushypark Fairy Dell? The trees and mushrooms required considerable patience and collaboration. The dance moves started during busy breaks in class. A lot of our Christmas play work was integrated with SESE. More art work ... We worked in our groups - Fairies, Pixies, Creatures and Goblins. We made lovely candle holders for the Christmas dinner table using our woodland theme. We put our names on the discs, cut out snowflakes, put the candles in place and then attached pine cones, holly, 'marshmallow mushrooms' and Christmas gift tags. We also did a lot of literacy work as we worked in Bushypark Fairy Dell. Of course, 'all's well that ends well' - letters written to Santa and he came by to see us before we took our Christmas break.

We have had great fun on the lead up to Christmas. Here are some photos of our Christmas Play. We wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas and we are looking forward to 2014! We have done some lovely Christmas art. what do you think? ![]() We have been reading up on the countries of Europe in our geography lessons and learning about the European Union. The European Union was set up after WWII as much of Europe had been destroyed and countries wanted to work together to rebuild a united Europe. Ireland is a member of the EU which means every Irish citizen is also a member of the European Union. Countries in the EU share common laws and the majority share the same currency, the euro. We chose a country in Europe and created a project on it. Take a look... ![]()

On Monday, we did our Christmas Play - Hosanna Rock for our Family & Friends! It was a great success and everybody really enjoyed it! Our 6th class pupils were chosen to take part in a Safe Cycle campaign in association with the Garda Síochána and organised by our Local Community Garda Alan Regan. The cycle took place on the 6th of December. The children cycled to the IMC cinema with their teachers and were also accompanied by the Gardaí. The 6th classes had a fantastic day out and really enjoyed it!! We were sure to wear our helmets and hi-visibility jackets! The popcorn and drinks provided were yummy and the film was excellent!! We wish all Fridays are this fun!!!!! We also appeared in last weeks Galway Advertiser newspaper - local celebrities!! We are busy practicing for our play on Wednesday next. Our costumes look fabulous. Today we had a picnic in the classroom as all our tables were in the corridor. We have been very busy practising for our Christmas play Whoops A Daisy Angel. We are very good at saying our lines and singing our songs. We putting our play on this Friday (December 13th) in our school hall. Here are photos of us in our lovely costumes. As part of our active schools initiative we have been getting up and moving throughout the school every Tuesday morning. It's a great way to start our day and make sure our minds and bodies are wide awake! Keep active everyone! This week we carried out some experiments with magnets. We tested lots of different things to see if they were magnetic and then we went on a magnet hunt around our classroom. Here are some pictures of us at work: |
