Táimíd gléasta suas do Oíche Shamhna. Bhuaigh Cillian an duais inár rang. We enjoyed our blow painting as part of our 'fireworks' creations. Notice our 'fireworks' poems already attached in safe containers awaiting Hallowe'en celebrations. Fun and games as we prepare for our Hallowe'en break. First of all we had some 'Floury Fun'! Then we were blindfolded and tried to pin the tail onto the witch's cat! See where we put it. Next it was 'apple bobbing' time! We simply got 'wet, wet, wet'! You can see we had so much fun.

![]() We were delighted when 4 of our pupils were picked as winners in the XL Colouring Competition. Here are the 4 talented artists with their prize hampers! The winners were Cilian McCullagh and Roisín Heaney from 1st Class, Aidan Monaghan and Sarah Gallagher from Senior Infants! Well done guys! We also want to say well done to all the boys and girls from the school who entered the competition! We got dressed up for Hallowe'en in Miss Cunningham's Junior Infants. Our teacher didn't know who we were when we changed our clothes. Here are some photos of us in our costumes: We have been working with 2D shapes this week in maths. We got to work with tangram pieces and they were quite tricky! The tangram was invented by the chinese many years ago. It is a puzzle made up of seven pieces of a square. ![]() A report is a piece of writing that gives information about a person, place, animal or thing. We read lots of report examples during our literacy classes and paired off to write our own reports. We researched our topics on the laptops and here are our finished pieces. ![]()

Report Writing in 5th Class - Room 13 - Researching topics during laptop hour for our KWL Charts.21/10/2013 We have been busy in Room 2 learning all about hedgehogs. We used clay, sticks and paint to make our own hedgehogs. We have also been working hard during morning activities....making lots of patterns, tracing, writing letters and making witches for Halloween. We all dressed up for non uniform day. Didn't we look great? We had a no uniform day today. We wore lovely clothes to school. Have a look at us showing our lovely outfits: Look at our Shape and Space pictures. We learned about 2D shapes. We coloured and cut out tangrams and then reassembled them creating these beautiful pictures. We have been working on numbers bigger than 10. We are able to count, add and partition sets. We are very good at describing our sets of tens and units, using a selection of concrete materials. ![]() This week for art we dealt with a halloween theme. We read the poems 'Seein Things' and 'Witches Potion' and then in our groups created Halloween themed dioramas. We discussed what we wanted our diorama to look like, collected materials and got to work! Look at our finished products...and Happy Halloween! 16/10/13
