By Thomas We have been very busy getting ready for Hallowe'en in our classroom. We made spiders using clay, ghosts with our handprints and pumpkins with paper plates. Our class wrote some really cool poems about Halloween. Listen to some scary stories below!! ![]() WE HAVE WOBBLY TEETH We all have wobbly teeth. We try to pull them out. When we have wobbly teeth we Can only eat Ready-brek for breakfast. No apples or carrots for us to eat. No hard sweets or nice treats when we have wobbly teeth. We wobble them whenever we want to help them to fall out. When our teeth fall out we feel great. The tooth fairy comes and leaves us money! We love the money that she gives us. We can spend it on games, toys and lots of lovely nice sweets! First Class Group Poem Room 6 ![]() Acrostic Poem HOME H: Hi I live in a home. O: Oh I have a rabbit who lives with me as well! We have been learning about the way the Normans came to Ireland to help Diarmuid MacMurrough who had been banished from Leinster by the high king Ruairí O'Connor. Diarmad had asked King Henry II, who was king of England and Normandy in France at the time, for help to regain control of Leinster. He sent Norman soldiers led by Richard de Clare or 'Strongbow' who helped defeat the Irish high king O'Connor. MacMurrough became high chief again and after his death Strongbow took his place. We have been learning about Mottes and Baileys. A Motte is a huge amount of earth which is dug out and raised into a large mound A fort would be placed on that. The fort on the mound would give the lord a good view of the surrounding countryside. This would help in the event of an attack. The Bailey was a courtyard where workers and soldiers lived. There were also workshops and stables there. The lords cows were also brought in at night for self keeping. We have also learned about Feudal law and Brehon law. In Feudal law if a lord dies the land goes to his eldest son. In Brehon law when a chief dies his land was passed onto any family member he chooses. We have been creating powerpoints on the laptops based on the Normans By Alison, Sarah and Rian Tangrams!! Today in math we learned about tangrams. Tangrams are a number of shapes that you put together to make various shapes. We made things like jerseys, swans, cats, runners, eagles and squirrels. The shapes we used were different sized triangles, a parallelogram and a square. There are 7 shapes altogether. We got a sheet with the shapes on it and we stuck the shapes on a sheet of card and then cut them out and then made the shapes with them. Ms. Collins took pictures of the things we made with the shapes. By Doireann and Irene :-) Have a look at some of the work Ms. Lane's second class have been doing. Mr Finlay's and Ms. Walsh's sixth class were in the garden. We weeded the garden and sowed seeds. We dug up plants. We also planted conkers and ate onions. |
