On Thursday, September 27th, members of the parents association were very kind and came into our classroom to help us make some delicious autumnal soup. First we gathered some vegetables from our school garden. When we returned to the classroom we washed, peeled and chopped all our vegetables. The ladies then brought our pots to the staff room where they cooked and blended the soup for us. When the soup was ready we got to enjoy it with tasty croutons in our classroom. It was delicious. We would like to thank all the parents that helped us out, we really appreciate them coming in to help us make soup.

This is our new Green Schools Committee. We are renewing our 9th green flag. The theme is Global Citizenship (Travel). Over the next few weeks we will be checking that we are all reducing waste and separating rubbish correctly. We will be checking that lights and switches are being turned off at breaks and we will be checking taps for any leaks.
Today for Science we explored our school grounds to find different materials such as stones, leaves, soil, twigs, grass and flowers. We checked their properties to see if they were hard, soft, rough, crumbly, bendy, shiny or round and filled in a chart to show our findings. 3rd class got the wonderful opportunity to make soup at school recently! We picked some organic vegetables that we sowed in the school garden last year as our ingredients. We washed and peeled the vegetables in our classroom and our helpers and teacher chopped them and helped us put them in a pot. We waited hungrily while the soup was cooked and we enjoyed a homemade bowl with some delicious bread afterwards! Yummy!! Special thanks to Christine, Sylvia, Michelle and Lorraine for all their help in the soup kitchen and to Kotaro for making us the delcious bread! Well done to Shay in Ms.Lane's second class on winning the player of the week award. It's our second week in a row to win the award so we are all very proud of Shay. Shay played by the rules during games and showed respect to others. Well done Shay!!!!!

Take a look at us practicing our addition. Well done to Evan in Ms. Lane's 2nd class who won player of the week. He played really well with everyone on yard, he played by the rules and showed respect. Well done Evan!
Yesterday we made vegetable soup. We went outside to our garden plot to pick the vegetables we had sown last year. We picked carrots, potatoes, peas and herbs and we brought in extra vegetables from home. After washing the vegetables we peeled and chopped them. We had the help from some lovely parents who cooked the soup for us. We would like to thank them for helping us. The soup was very delicious and we really enjoyed making it. This week for art we discussed Autumn and how the leaves change colour. We used bundled up cotton buds to create our colourful leaves. We think they turned out great! Our 'WALT' this week in Maths is Place Value. We have been busy learning about our hundreds, tens and units and placing them on our notation boards using different coloured counters. We have been doing number fan activities, dice lotto, mystery number and loop card games to practice our number skills! We had lots of fun doing these activities in groups and with our partners! |
