Last week we had lots of furry friends visit our class! Here are pictures of Meera's guinea pig 'Cinnamon'. Meera told us that she is 1 and half years old and loves grass!! Daniel's Mum also visited with his cat 'Aria' who he fostered!!
Junior Infants are very creative and have done some beautiful art work since they've started school.
Ms Britton's class are joined every Friday by our friends in 3rd class. The 3rd class children read a story to their junior infant reading buddy. We look forward to it every week!
Junior Infants have been very busy since we started school. We have learned lots of new things and have made lots of new friends.
Ms. Lane's 5th class, Room 9. 'Gone, but not forgotten'. We made great projects on animals that are now extinct in Ireland, such as the Great Irish Elk, The Wild Boar, Wolves, Brown Bears, Lynx and Birds of Prey.
We moulded slabs of clay to make the human form. We then painted our finished pieces.
The 6th Class pupils have settled in well this September and have been working hard!! The class is full of creative artists and fantastic historians and writers. Below are examples of some of our work. Please feel free to come read our recount writing pieces, we worked hard to publish our final draft! We really enjoyed making our 'Symmetrical Dragons', 'Coat of Arms' and 'Colour Wheels' in Art. We are studying historical buildings and ruins in our locality also and presented our findings to the class! Take a look.....
We read about the Irish legend of 'Diarmuid and Gráinne' for our History lesson. We then researched other Irish legends on the laptops, such as 'The Brown Bull of Cooley', 'The Salmon of Knowledge', 'The Goblin of Tara', 'Oisín in Tír na nóg', & 'Na Fianna'.
We loved this book by Dr. Seuss called 'My Many Coloured Days.' It was about how we feel different emotions on different days and used colours to represent our feelings.
We're learning about birds in our Buster's First Book of Facts. We are being nature detectives and trying to spot robins, sparrows and blackbirds. In winter we'll put out bird feeders.
In History we learned about Fionn and the dragon.
Meet Buddy. He's our class bear. He loves hugs and tree tunnels! He also loves coming to our houses to see where we live and meet our other toys. We tell our friends at school about his visit.
We were busy working with tens and units today in First Class. We had great fun working in our groups!

Look at us busy at work......

Robyn picked blackberries with her granny and brought them into school. We tasted them, and then we made blackberry muffins. They were delicious!!
6th Class made their own colour wheels during art. Starting using the three primary colours - red, yellow, and blue, - the colours were mixed resulting in the colour wheel of primary, secondary and tertiary colours.
Ms McAllister's 6th class have been enjoying class debates on topics such as: "Grafitti is Art" and whether or not computer games are destroying our eyes!
