Junior Infants are very creative and have done some beautiful art work since they've started school.26/9/2014 We moulded slabs of clay to make the human form. We then painted our finished pieces. The 6th Class pupils have settled in well this September and have been working hard!! The class is full of creative artists and fantastic historians and writers. Below are examples of some of our work. Please feel free to come read our recount writing pieces, we worked hard to publish our final draft! We really enjoyed making our 'Symmetrical Dragons', 'Coat of Arms' and 'Colour Wheels' in Art. We are studying historical buildings and ruins in our locality also and presented our findings to the class! Take a look..... We read about the Irish legend of 'Diarmuid and Gráinne' for our History lesson. We then researched other Irish legends on the laptops, such as 'The Brown Bull of Cooley', 'The Salmon of Knowledge', 'The Goblin of Tara', 'Oisín in Tír na nóg', & 'Na Fianna'. We have started our "Reading Buddies" sessions between Ms Sheehan-Jones's 5th class and Ms Lawton's 1st class. We have been assigned our buddies and we have been enjoying getting to know each-other. We loved this book by Dr. Seuss called 'My Many Coloured Days.' It was about how we feel different emotions on different days and used colours to represent our feelings. We're learning about birds in our Buster's First Book of Facts. We are being nature detectives and trying to spot robins, sparrows and blackbirds. In winter we'll put out bird feeders. In History we learned about Fionn and the dragon.
Meet Buddy. He's our class bear. He loves hugs and tree tunnels! He also loves coming to our houses to see where we live and meet our other toys. We tell our friends at school about his visit.
We were busy working with tens and units today in First Class. We had great fun working in our groups!

Today is Monday. Mia, Seán and Yaseen went to the circus. Jessica is seven tomorrow. Éabha went to Salthill. Clodagh brought conkers in. Dean got new shoes. Olivia went picking blackberries. We were busy painting this morning in Ms. Cooney's Junior Infants. We did some free painting so we got to paint what ever we liked. Some of us painted the beach, a flower, a fire engine, a see saw, a rainbow, a car, a dragon, a monster and a Skylander. We also coloured in and cut out some triangles and played with plasticine. Look at us busy at work...... Today senior infants had great fun painting. They produced some wonderful and interesting masterpieces!!! The junior infants in Ms. Cooney's class have been very busy sorting lots of things. We have sorted things into red sets, blue sets, green sets, yellow sets, orange sets and purple sets. Look at us busy at work...... Robyn picked blackberries with her granny and brought them into school. We tasted them, and then we made blackberry muffins. They were delicious!! |
