We are very proud of our Second Class Pupils who today presented a cheque for €409.20 to the Galway Autism Partnership. The money was raised through generous donations from the boys and girls out of their First Holy Communion money!
This year 3rd class went to Portumna Castle and Forest Park.
We had a wonderful day. First, we were given a very interesting tour of the Castle, where we learnt all about it's history and how the family pet Fury died! After a stroll through the beautiful walled victorian Gardens, we moved on to our picnic in the Forest Park on the banks of Lough Derg. The sun shone, while some enjoyed a walk to the Lough, while others relaxed and played some sports in the beautiful parklands. All too soon, the day was over.....some even enjoyed a nap on the journey bavk to school!!
Our senior infants classes went to Loughwell farm park on June 13th. We had great fun-especially Ms Newell
Mrs Regan's class were visited recently by some very interesting grandparents. Kane's granny, Lisa's granny and Shane and Cian's granny and grandad visited. They told us all about what life was like when they were small. Thanks to them all for taking the time to visit us.
First Class had a very busy week this week. Not only did we go on school tour but we also visited the Westside Library. On Friday 14/6/13 we welcomed our Grandparents to come and visit our class.
First Class visited Aillwee Caves on their school tour 12/6/12. We enjoyed the caves but the Birds of Prey were amazing. Aoibhe and Viktoria got to hold Bertie the Eagle.
We went on our school tour to Loughwell Pet Farm. We had a great day, we took the bus from school to the farm. On the farm we played in the play area, saw lots of lovely farm animals, fed some ducks, went on go karts and a tractor. Look at us having lots of fun:
First of all a librarian welcomed us and told us about the library.
Then she read us a story about the Big Bad Pig.
(We hadn't expected to hear and see a helicopter go past!)
Next some of us became new members.
Another librarian gave us our new library cards and we signed them.
Then it was time for us to browse. The library has lots of nice, quiet reading places.
There was a great selection - something for all of us - some fact and some fiction.
Soon it was time to find out how to use the checking out machine.
We queued up and then took turns in using it.
We got a receipt that listed the books we had borrowed and showed us the return date.
We discovered that we could borrow six books and keep them for up to three weeks.
Finally we were ready to take a quiz. We were able to answer all of the questions!
Thank you parents for taking us and helping us.
Soon it was time to go back to school.
Thank you librarians. We learned so much and had a brilliant time.
We hope to see you soon.
First class join in the celebration of Multicultural Day 7/6/13. We had many countries represented by the children and their parents. Food and dance from the represented countries were enjoyed by all.
