We were very lucky to observe a frame full of honey made by bees. We investigated the difference in weight between the frame full of honey and the empty frame. We even got to taste some of the honey the bees made, it was delicious. We learned lots about beekeepers and the different types of bees and their role in the honey making process.

For Tech Week we explored 'Augmented Reality' with our Pukka Fun App. We coloured in our templates, scanned them, then watched them come to life. We were able to take photos, videos, select specific items and travel with them and change the colour of items in the picture. We scanned our pictures in the app, then waited for the app to download and finally our picture came to life! We have been deeply engrossed in the whole process of planting seeds and watching them grow. We realised we had to be patient while waiting for various seeds to germinate. Take a look at progress. We even linked our work to our procedural writing. At first we ensured we had the essentials - empty pot, soil, seed mat and label. Next, we put a spoonful of soil into our pots, placed the seed mat on top and covered it with more soil. Then we put the label in the pot and placed the pot into our watering tray. Soon everyone had followed the steps and the waiting began! Finally, the seeds began to germinate! We've been watering regularly, checking daily for new shoots, observing growth and waiting for roots to appear. Almost all plants are ready to be taken home where we can continue to care for them and soon re-pot them. We discussed suitable uses and look forward to harvesting! We did maths stations in room 6 today and used the interactive panel and ipads at 2 of our stations. We used the 'Hit the Button' section of topmarks website which was lots of fun and had lots of games to help us with addition and subtraction of 10's and units.
We had an excellent time exploring 'Augmented Reality' with our Pukka Fun App. We simply had to colour, scan and have fun! We discovered that we could take photos, make videos, change colour attributes and even select some elements of our pictures and make them participate in games! At first we thought about our choice of colours carefully. Then we selected the app and uploaded our images. They came to life for us! We manipulated them, explored what we could do, such as take photographs, make videos, change colours, select specific elements and travel with them! We could see that selected items took us on different journeys . Next we discovered that we could replay our games and improve our scores. Finally, we shared our discoveries, observing how our initial picture selections and colours may have influenced what we could do. Most of all we had great fun! Treasure Hunt in Dangan Senior Infants. We thoroughly enjoyed looking for treasure that nature gives us. We found a rock and traced the outline of the rock. We did leaf, wall and bark rubbings with crayons. We even sketched some flowers on our treasure hunt. We counted some cars, windows, trees, gates and doors. We observed the nature Dangan has to offer and had a great day filled with fun.
We had a fantastic time making puppets . We showed off our creativity and fine motor skills by completing the task extremely quickly to a very high standard. Take a look at our creations and watch this space for some interesting puppet adventures in the future. Our Green Schools Committee, with the help and support of the students council, took part in our Spring Clean event today. We were out and about around our school grounds picking up litter. We are working together to keep our school brighter and cleaner for all the community.
