Pupils from our School took part in City Sports in Dangan yesterday (27th May). A very enjoyable day was had by all - even the heavy rain couldn't dampen our spirits!! We are very proud of all our athletes, we represented Bushypark N.S. wonderfully! The Under 13 Girls and Boys enjoyed double glory, with both relay teams winning Gold! Aaron Flynn (6th Class), also won a Gold Medal in the 100m Sprint, giving him the title of Fastest Boy out of all of the city's schools! Aoife Summerville (3rd Class) earned a Bronze Medal with her very strong finish in the 400m Final. A special word of thanks to the Parents who helped out on the day and well done again to all involved! Senior Infants recently made animals from clay. When they were dry, we painted them, varnished them and, of course, added lots of glitter. We think they're great! Senior infants planted cress seeds last week. We watered our seeds every day and this morning we had lots of lovely cress. Delicious! Our Traditional Irish Music Group are taking part in the Galway Fleadh Cheoil which takes place in NUIG's Bailey Allen Hall tonight (Friday 15th May) at 7pm. The group have been practicing hard for the last number of weeks in preparation of tonight's performance. Today they did a rehearsal in front of the rest of the school, which you can watch below. We wish them lots of good wishes for tonight! We are very proud of their progress and would like to say a big thanks to all the wonderful teachers involved! This week we have been reading the story of Goldilocks and The Three Bears in our classroom. This morning we made stick puppets of Goldilocks and The Three Bears so we can retell the story at home. Look at our brilliant work: As part of our recent SPHE lessons we have been studying the European country, France. We have learned some very interesting facts about France as well as discovering some aspects of its geography, climate, diversity of regions, cuisine, wildlife, fashion, culture and colourfulHistory. We have also been learning some phrases in French to get into the spirit of things! Many of us completed projects via Powerpoint or other such packages whilst others opted to display their projects on paper. Below you will be able to read a selection of our presentations. Vive la France! Amusez-vous bien et Au Revoir pour l'instant! ![]()

This morning we held a Mini Maths Puzzle Fair in our school foyer. Each Class from 2nd - 6th Class set up a table with different puzzles and each class from 1st Class up had a chance to come and try out the different puzzles. Some of the puzzles were quite hard but it was a fun way to learn new Maths thinking and reasoning! Children from 4th, 5th & 6th classes recently attended a basketball blitz in N.U.I.G which was run by basketball Ireland. The children got to play games, keep scores and times and even referee the games. A great day was had by all.
We made panpipes from straws. We had to cut each straw to a specific length and then sellotape them together in order of size. We could hear how there was a different note from the each straw depending on its length.
We did drawings of eagles, Celtic knots and 3-D images. Aim: How to make a hand puppet.
Requirements: Felt material, a needle, wool, scissors and decorations. Method: 1. Open the holes around the felt puppet. 2. Thread the wool through the needle. 3. Make a secure stitch at the start. 4. Sew the felt together, stitching up and down. 5. Make a final secure stitch to finish. 6. Decorate your puppet. 7. Enjoy playing with your puppet! |
