This week we were looking at one of the greatest artists to have ever lived - sculptor, painter and architect - Michelangelo.
As part of our Art History - we learned about his life and his work from the Statue of David to the world famous frescoes on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo spent 4 years painting the ceiling using custom scaffolding 58 feet above the floor! After these 4 back-breaking years, he famously said "I felt as old and as weary as Jeremiah. I was only 37, yet friends did not recognise the old man I had become.”
To get a sense of what it was like for him, we decided to try it for ourselves. We stuck our pages to the bottom of our desks, got on the floor, lay on our backs and created our own masterpieces!
Take a look at how we got on !
Yesterday for Earth Day 2021, we planted some tomato, pea shoot and cress seeds. We look forward to watching them grow.
6th Class used chalk to create World Earth Day drawings and messages on the yard. Have a look at our fantastic work!!
Ms.Regan's third class had fun learning about decimals today. It involved a game with a dice, and lots of noise!
We took advantage of the lovely weather yesterday and went for a nature walk in Dangan. It was great to see the river, the castle and trees in the sunshine.
In Ms Regans class today we had great fun drawing and painting Sunflowers. We took our inspiration from Van Gogh's Sunflower painting
We took part in the National Spring Clean event today. The boys and girls in 6th class had a busy afternoon cleaning up around our school and picking up litter. Look at the wonderful job they did making the school grounds cleaner for the whole school community!!! Thanks 6th Class!
