On Friday afternoon we had a special visit from the Gardaí and the Emergency Response Unit. It was so exciting to learn all about the role of a Garda and the responsibilities they have when protecting the community. We were amazed by the weapons and resources that the Emergency Response Unit vehicle had and were delighted to get to hold some of them! We were even able to use the speed gun to measure how fast we could run! Thanks to Garda Alan and his colleagues for the fantastic visit!
This year we are taking part in the Explorers Education Programme in 3rd Class. We will be going on a Seashore Safari in June on a local beach. On Friday, Brendan came to visit us and talk about all the sea creatures and plants that we will be looking out for! He gave us some tips on how to be safe and careful whilst on the beach and warned us of some possible dangers we can avoid. He brought in a bone from a whale, shark's teeth, a mermaid's purse and a lobster claw and passed these around for all to see! We can't wait for our Seashore Safari!

Afterwards we practiced writing another narrative story in pairs on the ipads. We had fun using the Book Creator app which allowed us to edit our stories and give them voice-overs and illustrations!
