2nd Class: predicting, measuring and recording length in Maths using lollipop sticks, unifix cubes, straws and pencils.
Mr Kilgannon's Senior Infants have been very busy sowing and growing plants in their classroom as part of the "Innocent and G.I.Y. Sow and Grow Project". The project is all about teaching children about the fun of gardening and growing their own produce. In third class we learned about the Irish Famine (An Gorta Mór). It was fun writing our own diary extracts from the era of 1845 - 1850.
3rd class Room 14: We wrote acrostic poems on our favourite characters from our class novel - The Yuckee Prince
Ms McAllister's 3rd class carried out our own research on countries around the world effected by famine.
We did a survey in fifth class, room 13, on how we use our computers and these are our findings
In the days coming up to Daffodil Day the boys and girls from Mr Kilgannon's Senior Infants worked really hard to pick and collect all the Daffodils that had been growing around the school. With the help of some 6th class girls we sold them to parents and friends on Daffodil Day and collected €304. This is a picture of us presenting a cheque to Joanne from The Irish Cancer Society. Great Job Team !!!

Viewing Primary Colours in Light
The Titanic sank 101 years ago and last weekend was its anniversary. We read about the ship and made fact books for homework. We learned lots of cool stuff!
Investigating materials in 2nd class: Can they be stretched? Do they sink or float? Do they bend without breaking? Are they magnetic? Can they be cut? Can they be squashed? Do they break when dropped?
Ms. Lane's 2nd class worked as scientists by investigating natural and man-made materials. We brought in some natural and some man-made products and put them on display.
2nd Class: We made Mosaic boats by gluing small squares of crepe paper onto a page. We used bright colours for the sails of our boats.
We had lots of fun with percussion instruements this week. We made up our own music and we played rhythms that we heard in songs. Have a look at us with our instruments.

We have been studying Australia and have done lots of research on different aspects of 'the land down under'!

2nd Class: We did a science experiment to see what plants need to grow. We then made caterpillars from egg cartons and egg shells and we sowed some cress seeds in them to grow at home.
