As it was Pancake Tuesday we decided to put our culinary skills to the test. We made delicious pancakes in our groups and added lots of different toppings to make them taste amazing. Have a look at us making our mixtures:

We enjoyed some pancakes today with lovely toppings like nutella, honey, lemon juice, sugar and maple syrup. They were a delicious treat!! This week we have been learning about the Egyptians and their traditions . Have a look at our projects! This week in room 16 we were learning about 3d shapes in maths. Today we made our own 3d shapes from matchsticks and marshmallows. Have a look at our wonderful shapes:The girls and boys in Rang 6 hope that their family and friends had a lovely Valentine's Day. We made cards and wrote poems to show appreciation to their families. Happy Valentine's day everyone! We made Valentine's cards for our loved ones...take a look! All in Rang a 6 recognise the importance of keeping active. We have enjoyed taking part in the 10 at 10 classroom based exercise programme being promoted by Operation Transformation. Keep moving!! Today our school took part in the Operation Transformation initiative '10 at 10'. It involved everyone doing 10 minutes of exercise at 10 o'clock on February 10th. We also had our no uniform day today so we looked extra good doing our exercises. It was great fun! As well as no uniform day in our school we also took part in Operation Transformations 10@10. We followed the guidance on the Operation Transformation website and had lots of fun copying the moves. Have a look at us in action:
Back in September we decided that we wanted to challenge ourselves in class and discover our hidden talents. We wanted to explore more topics, tap into our different areas of interest, and finally, publish it on a document! The fifth class boys and girls in room 13 have created their own magazine! It is called "The Fox Times" and is full of poems, stories, games, word searches, quizzes, comic strips and much, much more! They have all been created by the boys and girls in the class and have been edited and chosen by the editing committee. A huge congratulations is in order for everyone involved and we are so excited to share it with you. Click on the link to see our New Year Edition of "The Fox Times"! ![]()
Our class took part in the Operation Transformation, 10 at 10 today. It was great exercise and we really enjoyed it. On rainy days when we can't get out to play we are going to do this again in class. As part of the initiative launched by Operation Transformation, we took part in the "10 at 10" challenge today. The idea was that all classes in our school and in all of the schools and workplaces in Ireland would do 10 minutes of exercise at 10 o'clock on the 10th of February! What a great idea! We had great fun and felt fantastic afterwards! We started a new after school programme in our school today with 1st and 2nd classes called Be Active A.S.A.P. We set up 10 stations on our astro turf pitch and had great help from parents at each station. This week the children did athletic activities which included various forms of running, jumping, throwing and skipping. The children had great fun and we are looking forward to next week already! We'd like to say a big thank you to Mr. Cunningham, Mr. Kilgannon & Ms. Lane for organising and also a big thank you to all the parents who helped out. First class were delighted to win the Golden Bowl of Fruit Award this week for healthy lunches. We always eat lots of fruit and vegetables .But we were a bit naughty last Friday when we made chocolate chip cookies! We also wrote a letter to our grandparents and posted them on Thursday. We hope they write back. For the past few weeks we have been learning lots about The Solar System. In our groups we made amazing projects, we created some aliens from clay and drew some rockets which look great on our classroom wall. Have a look at all our hard work: Children from 4th, 5th and 6th Class who play basketball, took part in a tournament in the Kingfisher, NUIG, last week. The tournament was run by Basketball Ireland and we were lucky enough to meet the Irish basketball team coach Pete Strickland. He gave us plenty of tips for our game. These will come in handy over the coming weeks as we participate in the Galway Primary Schools Basketball League. Thanks to Mike Murray, Peter Strickland and all at Basketball Ireland for organising such a great event. Spring has sprung and we welcomed the wonderful season by celebrating St. Brigid's Day in our class. We learned all about the Burren and its unique landscape and wildlife. The Burren in Co. Clare is made up of limestone rock and is home to a very vast range of wild plants and animals. We designed projects to display our information that we researched in class and at home. Well done everyone, they're brilliant! Over the past few weeks we have been challenged with a lot of new material in maths. We have been very busy with fractions and decimals lately, but we took a break to test out our skills on tangram designs. It was so tricky but very fun! This week we created beautiful flowers in pots using matchsticks to show the beginning of spring! Have a look at our fabulous creations. |
