Around the world in room 6!
We have been reading about the continents and various countries from around the globe in our Feena's First Book of Facts! We found out interesting facts about lots of countries and then chose a country and did a project on it. We presented them to the class...take a look!
We have been very busy doing our projects on China over the last two weeks. We have learned all about the Chinese New Year, which is tomorrow, Saturday 28th. We have also learned about The Great Wall of China, pandas, tea, the cities and rivers of China and about some of the customs and traditions of the Chinese people. Have a look at our amazing projects if you are passing our room, we are very proud of them! :-) We also made some Dragon masks and Chinese lanterns to celebrate this weekend.
This week we have been learning about China - it's flag, the Giant Panda and The Great Wall. We have also been learning about the Chinese New Year - this year is the year of the rooster.

Look at who came to school with us on January 19th! We had great fun showing our teddies our classroom and then we brought them to visit the doctor. We have very healthy teddies now!
We love making our own rhythms in first class...ta ti - ti ta! We worked in groups and created our own beats for everyone to clap out. It was loads of fun, take a look!
Room 4 (Senior Infants) had a great time at the Teddy Bear Hospital.
We brought our teddys along to the Teddy Bear Hospital and the nice doctors gave them bandages , x-rays and even some stitches. We had a lovely time
We are learning about sentences . We are counting words in sentences and figuring out where the full stop goes! We had fun putting the words 'I' 'have' and 'a' in order and then filling in the last word ourselves! Nobody forgot to put a full stop in at the end!
We made paper bag puppets! We had so much fun! We love using them for Drama !
This week we are learning to read the time. We've learned the big hand tells us minutes and the small hand tells us the hours. When the big hand is on 12 it's o'clock and when it's on 6 it's half past! We played a fun game based on time...
Snow globes and reindeer took over 5th class over the winter and filled our room with beautiful colours!
We had a brilliant month preparing for our play, 'Sasha Got Swept Up The Chimney'. It was a great success and we thoroughly enjoyed performing in front of other classes and for our parents before the holidays. Take a look at our pictures !
We have recently been learning lots about the topic of Light in 6th Class. We are exploring terminology such as Refraction, Transparent, Translucent, Opaque, Solar Power and Prisms. We carried out experiments in pairs to show that light changes speed and bends when travelling through a transparent substance such as water.
We have been working on the topic of Shape and Space in Maths in 6th class recently. We have been looking at all types of polygons, quadrilaterals and triangles in detail. We really enjoyed the activity based on tangrams. It was challenging but fun and we worked in pairs to try and configure each shape!
