Mr. Finlay's 6th class have been doing some work about world poverty. We learned about some of the causes of poverty such as war, drought, natural disasters, etc. It is not only poor countries that suffer from poverty - some of the richest countries in the world still have a lot of it. We also looked at ways we can help and one way is to buy Fairtrade produce in the supermarket. You can get fruit, coffee, tea and even chocolate that is Fairtrade. We did projects on some of the countries that are suffering from poverty. You can download our projects here. ![]()

There will be two seperate leagues - third and fourth will be held on Tuesday and 5th and 6th will be held on Wednesday. If anyone newcomers wish to participate please let Mr Mannion know this week so I can match you with a team. The teams will be on display this Monday 28th January at the back door. Let's hope the weather is kind to us! Meanwhile, A big congratulations to three 5th class pupils; Sorcha & Ella (Pictured) and Sophie who played in front of 5,000 supporters at half time in the recent Connacht v Zebre Heineken Cup game. The girls got some great tries during the game for their club Galwegians. No doubt we will be hearing a lot more about the girls in years to come. Well done girls! We worked very actively this week with Ms McAllister and Mr Mannion during our maths class.27/1/2013 We decorated cookies and sponge cake with icing tubes and sprinkles. Delicious! OnMonday it snowed. We went outside to feel the snow-on our hands and on our tongues. It felt cold and wet. It had all melted by lunchtime! We had great fun playing with toys in school. We also painted our snowmen. Do you like them? Here we are performing our Christmas play 'Sleepy Santa' we had great fun doing it and we really enjoyed singing the songs.
