6th Class Garda Cycle in conjunction with 'Bike Week' and 'Making Communities Safer Week' 201610/6/2016 Our 6th classes recently enjoyed a fantastic day out on a Garda Cycle. They cycled, accompanied by our local community Gardaí, all around Galway city. We began by cycling to Dangan and got to see a Garda van, the ARU vehicle and an ambulance. We looked at all the equipment and got to sit into the back of the van and play the sirens! After we cycled through NUIG and canals to visit Mill Street Garda station. One member of our class was nominated to be the Garda and another was nominated to be the prisoner. We re-enacted an arrest and got to see a holding cell at the station. Later we walked to the Courthouse and viewed one of the court rooms. We saw where the judge, solicitors, assistant judge and press sit. We eventually cycled home after a fantastic day! We are very grateful to the local Gardaí for organising such an enjoyable day out!
